Fund Raising Extention

We are extending the time-line for our fund raising campaign until Friday, November 6th.

We are hoping that more students will take the time to ask family and friends in order to raise money for Sacred Heart School. We use this money to support field trips, technology, buying books and so many special school events.

WE NEED THE SUPPORT OF OUR WHOLE SCHOOL COMMUNITY!

Egg-citing Science!

Learning Goal: The Grade 8 students are learning about cells and osmosis.

The students performed an experiment using eggs to study the effect of different liquids on the egg. The eggs represented an animal cell in this experiment. This was a chance to see osmosis in action.

TRIP TRAP TRIP TRAP ... WHO'S THAT BUILDING A BRIDGE?

Learning Goal: The grade 5 students are learning about forces acting on structures.

A bridge can be built in many different ways, however, a bridge must be built to resist the forces acting on it (nature's forces, gravity etc.). The students were challenged to build the strongest bridge possible using 40 straws, 1 metre of string, and masking tape. The bridge will then go through two tests; a wind test (stability) and a load test (using weights).

September At Sacred Heart Elementary School

We have already completed our first month of school!  It was terrific to see so many families at our Meet the Teacher BBQ Night. Our school wide participation in the Terry Fox National School Run Day allowed us to help share Terry's example of courage strength and hope.  Great work Cardinals! Soccer and Cross Country are our current athletic opportunities.  School routines are in place, students have made new friends, and we are ready to continue our learning journey!  Look below for a few photos to see what has been happening during the month of September.
